This is the latest heat-to-electrical power converter called "thermoelectric converter."
Based on its name, it can convert heat energy into electrical power. It was developed by the Lanzhou Institute of Physics at the China Academy of Space Technology.
Shenzou 15 astronauts installed the heat-to-electrical power converter in a specialized equipment cabinet in the Mengtian lab module.

During this test, the device performed in a stable manner; producing better-than-expected performance indicators.
CGTN报道称,热电转换器的挂rsion effectiveness reached an international level under the same isothermal ratio.
The Stirling thermoelectrical converter is expected to be a beneficial tech for the Chinese space station.
This device is light and produces low noise and small vibrations. Experts stated that the since it can efficiently convert heat energy to electricity, the power converter can help Tiangong become less reliant on solar panels (solar energy).
But this doesn't mean that the Chinese space station will completely rely on thermal energy alone.
Next Tiangong Cargo Mission Being Prepared
除了测试工程师ting the new thermoelectrical power converter, China is also preparing for the Tiangong Space Station cargo mission.
This space activity is expected to happen around the first half of May. Recently, components of a Long March 7 have already arrived at the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center.
Once the rocket is completely ready for its upcoming launch, it will carry the Tianzho 6 cargo spacecraft to the Chinese space station.
The Tianzhou 6 is expected to carry propellant and other supplies for astronauts of the Shenzou 17 and 16 missions.
