Tesla Steam Support Rolls Out, Bringing Thousands of Games
As per the latest news story byElectrek, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla, Musk, has been teasing the arrival of Steam integration.
Early this year, the billionaire entrepreneur showcased how the Steam support works on its vehicles once it starts rolling out. He then blurted out that a demo releases this August. But a couple of months passed, and it was still nowhere to be seen.
However, this time, the latest "Holiday Update" dishes out the support for Steam, albeit still in beta form.
The official Twitter account of Tesla reveals that the support for Steam is finally here. The tweet boasts that its arrival comes with "thousands of games."
According to a recent report byPC Mag,the infotainment system of the Musk-owned EV maker does not have Windows installed. As such, its Steam integration is a Linux-based version. And it turns out that it is the same counterpart that debuted on the Steam Deck.
So expect verified Steam Deck games to run on it. Not only that, the integration allows players to resume their games between Steam Deck and Tesla vehicles.
Only Available on Newer Tesla Model X and Model Y EVs?
It is worth mentioning, though, that the gaming integration is only available to select EV offerings. In turn, owners of the newer Model X and Model S could get their hands on Steam beta.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk uses his mobile device as he sits in the car arriving to the construction site for the new plant, the so-called "Giga Factory", of US electric carmaker Tesla in Gruenheide near Berlin, northeastern Germany.
In fact, PC Mag says that these flagship EVs come with an entertainment system that runs on AMD Ryzen processors with built-in GPU. So these vehicles got what it takes to run Steam games.
The carmaker says "this feature is available on Model S and X (year 2022+) with 16GB DDR memory and requires Premium Connectivity." The latter apparently costs $9.99 monthly.
